Easter 2010

We have read in many a mission book about the importance of embracing the new culture you are living in. However, it is also stressed to remember and continue in events and activities and traditions that are important to your home country and your individual family. Easter is one of the traditions that we continue to celebrate. The obvious primary reason is for the honoring of our Risen Savior! We will have "gringo" church today where we shall sing traditional hymns, then attend a local church for Easter Service.

Yesterday Madison and I dyed eggs, she opened her door this morning to an Easter Basket, then today we did the hide and seek of plastic and boiled eggs. Afterward, the tradition deviled eggs were made from the boiled eggs. Happy Easter everyone! He is Risen...He is Risen Indeed!!!

Completed project

Ready to go hunting...

Max even helped out by hiding an egg under his collar :-)

Opening her eggs to find her stash :-)

Hello! Lisa Gutierrez here. Looks like you are a wonderfully resourceful mom...by the grace of God. I thought of the Clows the other day after speaking with one of my ex-students who is originally from Honduras. I am a ESOL teacher (English for Speakers of Other Languages)in San Benito, TX. I live in Harlingen, and I go to church where Scott Floyd is pastor. I met the Clows while they were sojourning here on their way to Honduras to join you guys. Scott suggested I talk to you about my friend/ex-student Oscar Oviedo. I have known Oscar for at least 10 years; I met him when he first arrived in Tx to attend school and learn English. I eventually got to know him better and invited him to attend church with us. He is at a point in his life where he is preparing to take an extended visit home to Honduras. He said when he returns, he wants to teach his people (he will obtain his GED soon, speaks good English), and more importantly, he wants to share the Gospel with his people in Honduras. That's the main reason I write to you. He will be in Choluteca and in a small pueblo a bit southeast of there called Namasigue. If you know any missionaries, or Christian organizations or groups who are working there, maybe we could put Oscar and them in contact. As a native Hondurenan he could be an extremely valuable asset to them. I know I blew the concept of blog comment, but I had to talk to you. Write when you have time: Thanks, Your new friend in Christ, Lisa Gutierrez

Whoa! Maddy raked in the loot! It rained here so we did ours in the house. Ha! Adults too! We hid eggs in peoples pockets, mouths, armpits...it was awesome. <3 Glad to see that you keep a bit of home with you.
